About

This site use to be a large collection of information about gardening, classes, and resources. Since I began this journey in 2010, I sought to teach people about gardening naturally, without chemicals, simply, and with wisdom. My goal was to help myself and others use the resources God has provided to grow nutritious and healthy food, medicines, and pollinator plants. At the time I started, I lived in South West Florida. Since then we have moved to Northwest Arkansas where the climate, soils, and resources are very different. I also started working full time with the National Park Service where I am learning more every day about the culture and environment here.

We have been here three years as of 2023 and oh yes, I grow many plants and have established an orchard, berry patches, and gardening beds and systems that work here. The summers here so far are hot and unfortunately very dry. Irrigation and mulching have been my priorities and since mulch is very hard to come by here because of the remote location, I have primarily used leaves we collect in the fall and my old cardboard and newspaper methods. As I move forward in learning through experience and other local gardeners, this page will be to share what I learn.

I spend more time posting on my Facebook page, In the Garden with Deana so feel free to find me there.
